[comp.windows.misc] Multitasking with Windows on a 386SX20

Hi, I have a question. I recently purchased a 386SX20 and received
along with it a free copy of Microsoft Windows 3.0. Now, what I'm trying to
figure out is how to do multitasking. The manual spends a fair
amount of time telling me how to set up multitasking options, but
does not seem to say anything about how to actually engage
multitasking. For example, I would like to be able be working
on a document in Multimate and, if I am running the spellchecker,
instead of simply sitting wasting time, open a new window and run
another program. Since I was able to load Multimate as a non-
windows application (it has its own icon, etc.), shouldn't I be
able to do this? I'm sure I'm simply missing something very basic,
but the manual does not seem to cover it, and, frankly, I'm stumped.
Thanks in advance for any answers, suggestions, etc.
