Sorry if this is a FAQ. If it is, just point me to the FAQ file. Can you all fill me in on the current state of affairs in the Window Wars (OSF vs Sun & AT&T)? Basically, I'd like to know the state of development, implementation, availability etc for OpenLook and Motif. Also, any parallel information on the OS Wars would be appreciated. I have used various Sun and HP UNIX boxes with variously X11R3, News, Suntools and Sunview. (Is there now a difference between the last two?) Basically, I want to be able to talk intelligently about the advantages/disadvantages of the various window systems/unix boxes. With everything from X to Suntools to Sunview to Motif to OpenLook to NeXT to Macintosh, things get confusing. I'd like to know, once and for all, who is developing which, which exist as real products, which are window systems vs window managers, Bear in mind that I'm not asking which is best, I merely want some background information. This is only an exhibition, this is not a competition. Please, no flame wars. Thanks in advance. -- Marc A. Sarrel sarrel@cis.ohio-state.edu | "Oh, _lightweight_ Alpaca..." N7OLI | -Blanche DuBois
