[comp.windows.misc] Color graphics become monochrome

tclark@uncmed.med.unc.edu (02/17/91)

I have just gotten a color printer (Citizen GSX140; emulates Epson 2550).

My first attempts at color printing were drawings from the hDC microapp
Art Gallery via the clipboard, which worked beautifully.

I then tried drawing with MS Paintbrush +. My drawings appear on the
screen in color; however, printing them from Paintbrush yields monochrome.
Also, transferring them through the clipboard to any other program yields
monochrome when they end up in the final program, although they do show up
in color on the clipboard.

I then tried using the hDC microapp drawing, which I ran through
Paintbrush via the clipboard--making no changes, only placing it in
Paintbrush and straight back into the clipboard, then into PageMaker. It
too became monochrome.

What I have discovered is that anything that passes through Paintbrush+
becomes monochrome, no matter what settings I use to save, or whether I
pass it right back to the clipboard. This might be a minor problem except
that neither PageMaker nor Word will read .bmp files, and the only way I
can use them is to pass them through the clipboard. Any whizzes out there
who can help me with this problem?

Thanks.
