I just recently figured out an annoying problem, so I thought I'd share it. (I posted it some months ago, but nobody had any ideas on how I could fix it.) The problem was that while running Windows in 386 Enhanced mode, if I ever tried to access a floppy drive (either through a Windows utility or the DOS shell, etc.), my system would restart. Total reset. Since some software requires that you be running in 386 Enhanced mode to install it, this made it very difficult for me. The problem was solved by upgrading my Award BIOS from my old, old version of 3.03. (I bought my computer two years ago and the BIOS was already too old for Windows! Oh my.) -- Shawn P.
