From: Gene McDaniel <decwrl!mcdaniel%Shasta at SU-Score> re Chin Card&Moran at Parc & others there have done considerable research regarding pointing devices. Much of their research is available in the public domain. They tested mice, joy sticks, cursor keys, and (I think) track balls. re: REM Many years of experience with windows and mice suggests that people like me who have cluttered work areas do not like the target window to change when the mouse moves out of the window: they may start up some arbitrary command that runs programs, deletes files, etc. Touch typists don't always look at the screen! This problem is easily avoided by redirecting the character input stream after the user moves the mouse to another window and then clicks a button on the mouse. Gene
