I'm not sure what the right newsgroup is for this question, but here goes: Does Valid have a MOS library? Does anyone have one? Their documentation seemed to indicate they would only support ECL and {LS,S}TTL. Not PALs. Not RAMs or PROMs. Not even 2900 stuff. They seem to be missing a lot of the market.

Valid has cell libraries for TTL, STTL, LSTTL, 10K ECL, and 100K ECL SSI/MSI families, STL gate-array library (TI) also available. CMOS SSI, memory devices, CMOS, and ECL gate-array libraries being developed. Daisy System has ~125 74xxx elements and Motorola macrocell ECL. Mentor Graphics has ~300 TTL, STTL, LSTTL parts, 50 10K ECL parts, and 4000 series CMOS. Gate-array libraries on the way. Metheus is primarily a MOS-IC layout/development station, so they should have libraries fairly soon. All of the above information was exerpted/paraphrased from the March/April 1983 issue of VLSI Design, "Sorting Out the CAE Workstations" by Jerry Werner, from table 1 page 49. The article was mostly about CAE not CAD so the cell libraries and IC layout capabilities were only lightly covered. VLSI Design is an excellent magazine which covers a large part of VLSI related technology at a significant level of detail. Probably not useful to someone who has not done some previous study in the field. Subscription info: $19.95/6 issues (one year) $37.95/12 issues (two years) VLSI Design P.O.
