We just upgraded from v 2.1 to OS-9/68000 v 2.2 and have encountered a serious performance problem. I am interested to know if anyone else has experienced this or if it is specific to our system. The symptoms are that terminal output speed for programs that write a character at a time (e.g. emacs) drops dramatically if any other process is using CPU-time. It looks like the SCF driver is giving up its timeslice for each character. The odd thing is that all the drivers and descriptors are the same ones we used under v2.1. The hardware is an Eltec VME-System with a Eurocom-5 CPU and Eltec's adaptation of MicroWare OS-9. Any tips or commiserations appreciated. -- Frank D.
