Top@mutec.UUCP (The OS9 Project) (07/19/88)
TOP Munich *** The OS-9 Project TOP Munich is a small but very active group of young programmers porting and writing software for OS-9/68000. Current TOP Munich members are: * Reimer Mellin, student at the TU Munich. His main concerns are porting and writing of programs for software development. Examples are the Decus-C-Preprozessors. Furthermore he is our nethack wizard. * Ulli Dessauer, software engineer at Markt&Technik-Verlag Munich, has written very many useful system tools for OS-9. The mmon/logon package is one of his masterpieces. He has written the mmenu system, the manual work bench and the multiuser game mazewar, too. * Frank Kaefer, student, is responsible for documentation of software and is beta-testing every program very accurate. He also does the translations from and into english. He has written or ported some minor programs like bm. * Wolfgang Ocker, student at the TU Munich and founder of reccoware systems Puchheim has ported the whole UUCP- and NOTES-package to OS-9/68000. His favourite program is the self written mailer called OXM. This project would not have been possible without the help and support of many friends. We want to thank * Christian Kaiser for his patience with our countless questions on unix, * Michael Hoffmann for testing and writing the super-tar called "far", * Manfred Freisberg from ELTEC Mainz for his support, * CUMANA England for providing a 40MB harddisk, * Hans Korneder from ALTOS Munich for many sources, and all members of the sub-net Germany. TOP GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
TOP is an acronym for "The OS-9 Project Munich". The current
members are:
Reimer Mellin, Muenchen
Frank Kaefer, Starnberg
Ulli Dessauer, Germering
Wolfgang Ocker, Puchheim
In this public license agreement the term "TOPS" refers to the
software released by TOP Munich.
The license agreements of most software companies keep you at
the mercy of those companies. By contrast, our general public
license is intended to give everyone the right to share TOPS. To
make sure that you get the rights we want you to have, we need
to make restrictions that forbid anyone to deny you these rights
or to ask you to surrender the rights. Hence this license
agreement.
Specifically, we want to make sure that you have the right to
give away copies of TOPS, that you can get it if you want it,
that you can change TOPS or use pieces of it in new free
programs, and that you know you can do these things.
To make sure that everyone has such rights, we have to forbid
you to deprive anyone else of these rights. For example, if you
distribute copies of TOPS, you must give the recipients all the
rights that you have. And you must tell them their rights.
Also, for our own protection, we must make certain that
everyone finds out that there is no warranty for TOPS. If TOPS
is modified by someone else and passed on, we want its
recipients to know that what they have is not what we
distributed, so that any problems introduced by others will not
reflect on our reputation.
Therefore we (TOP Munich) make the following terms which say
what you must do to be allowed to distribute or change TOPS.
COPYING POLICIES
1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of TOPS as you
receive it, in any medium, provided that you conspicuously and
appropriately publish on each copy a valid copyright notice of
the author (or with the year updated if that is appropriate);
keep intact the notices on all files that refer to this License
Agreement and to the absence of any warranty; and give any other
recipients of TOPS a copy of this License Agreement along with
the program.
2. You may modify your copy or copies of TOPS or any portion
of it, and copy and distribute such modifications under the
terms of Paragraph 1 above, provided that you also do the
following:
a) cause the modified files to carry prominent notices
stating that you changed the files and the date of any
change; and
b) cause the whole of any work that you distribute or
publish, that in whole or in part contains or is a
derivative of TOPS or any part thereof, to be freely
distributed and licensed to all third parties on terms
identical to those contained in this License Agreement
(except that you may choose to grant more extensive warranty
protection to third parties, at your option).
3. You may not copy, sublicense, distribute or transfer TOPS
except as expressly provided under this License Agreement. Any
attempt otherwise to copy, sublicense, distribute or transfer
TOPS is void and your rights to use the program under this
License agreement shall be automatically terminated. However,
parties who have received computer software programs from you
with this License Agreement will not have their licenses
terminated so long as such parties remain in full compliance.
In other words, go ahead and share TOPS, but don't try to stop
anyone else from sharing it farther. Help stamp out software
hoarding!
NO WARRANTY
Because TOPS is licensed free of charge, we provide absolutely
no warranty, to the extent permitted by applicable state law.
Except when otherwise stated in writing, TOP (i.e. the members
of TOP) and/or other parties provide TOPS "as is" without
warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including,
but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability
and fitness for a particular purpose. The entire risk as to the
quality and performance of TOPS is with YOU. Should TOPS prove
defective, you assume the cost of all necessary servicing,
repair or correction.
In no event unless required by applicable law will the members
of TOP, and/or any other party who may modify and redistribute
TOPS as permitted above, be liable to you for damages, including
any lost profits, lost monies, or other special, incidental or
consequential damages arising out of the use or inability to use
(including but not limited to loss of data or data being
rendered inaccurate or losses sustained by third parties or a
failure of the program to operate with any other programs) TOPS,
even if you have been advised of the possibility of such
damages, or for any claim by any other party.
The copyrights by the original authors of the ported software
remain absolutly intact. Please refer to the supplied
documentation. Top@mutec.UUCP (The OS9 Project) (07/19/88)

I would very much like to obtain the files available from _TOP Munich *** The OS-9 Project_ My problem is this -> how do I send a stamped return envelope with the proper postage to get from West Germany back here to the US? I assume that others have the same problem. Will you post your distribution to the net?
