I have bnews running on my 11/23 (non split I/D) running UNIMAX and on an adjoining 11/23 running UNIX Version 7 (Circa 1979). Both have hooks for an overlay loader that can run simulated split I/D (64K I, ~48K D Space). The source's major modification is to use the dynamic memory allocator to help space requirements, but this is not enough for inews, expire, readnews and vnews which still require the I/D emulator. Vnews is NOT bug free. The source did NOT run without the major (about 2 mo work in spare time) modifications with the I/D emulator. I feel since the code has run on the adjoining machine, I feel that it is bug free enough to allow others to use it to connect with the net. Any os9 user may find this source also usefull as a starting point to get bnews up on their machine I'spose Send me mail if you are interested, and we will try to make arrangements to transfer it over. (any permanent connections to local machines appreciated). 73's -- Mark Salyzyn @ ADEC systems
