The price of Sculptor (a database program available for OS-9) has continued to drop, and it is presently available for $99.95. At its original list price of $1200 Sculptor was advertised as the best thing since the birth of ISAM in the dark ages of computing. I've listed a couple of hypotheses below; perhaps someone who has actually used Sculptor could comment on them. A. Sculptor is one-twelfth as good as its hype would lead you to believe, making it appear to be a so-so value at $99.95. B. Sculptor is a dog of a program that didn't sell 10 copies at $1200, and now they are trying to attract a flood of orders from the sort of people who buy a dozen salt shakers at garage sales cause they're a bargain. C. Sculptor was only over-priced by a factor of three originally, and now it's a pretty good deal. However, the low price might be due to some scenario such as the author quitting the business, meaning no future support. Please post your opinions if you have experience with Sculptor or good dirt on why the price is dropping. Kurt Liebezeit klieb@tekigm2.MEN.TEK.COM ...!tektronix!tekigm2.MEN.TEK.COM!klieb

Kurt Liebezeit (apologies if I misspelled) asks why is the price of Sculptor going down drastically. I think the answer is that the copies going for cheap are those of the version immediately preceding a new version that I recall reading about, that supports SQL. James Jones
