Regarding XWindows for OSK, I don't think so, and I doubt you'd want to put something that big and gross on top of your beautiful OS-9 68k. I remember seeing something about Kevin Darling having written windowing routines for it, similar to what is available for OS-9 Level2 on the CoCo 3. More info, send me mail for it. There definately IS X-Windows for OS-9. Two companies in Germany (ELTEC and MIELE) have X11R3 running for a VME system. I personally ported MGR, a window manager which recently appeard in comp.sources.unix to OS-9. I use an Hitachi ACRTC for the graphics hardware. Plain bit mapped graphics would be much faster, though. I still think the X is a little bit too big for OS-9. MGR however is pretty small and fast enough. The server is about 250k of code and 200k for the internal bitmaps and data. I think there is also a version of MGR for the Atari ST ported by Reccoware. someone is interested, please respond per e-mail and I can post (or e-mail back) more info.
