[comp.os.os9] 020 SBCs

rh2y+@andrew.cmu.edu (Russell E. Hoffman, II) (10/13/89)

As I have mentioned in a previous message, I presently own a
Hazelwood UniQuad I (68008) single-board computer (SBC) I know
of a few other similar SBCs, such as the Hazlewood UQ II (68000) and
the Gimix Micro-20 SBCs. What other similar OS9/68000 SBCs are
available, and approximately is the going price for one, new or used?
I have an opportunity to purchase a revision A Gimix micro-20
for a reasonable price (I think the guy wants around 1500 plus software
license), but I want to know what else is currently available in the
68000/68020/68030 SBC OS-9/68000 market. If anybody could give me a list
of this information (along with maybe a breif description of the
hardware configuration for each), I would greatly appreciate it.

Try your local Moto. rep. They sell an MVME-117-3 card which is basically
competative with most SBC's, gives you a VME backplane interface for
expandability and (best of all) Microware has Professional OS-9 available
for it.

I've been hearing from a lot of people about the 020 SBCs what
each person seems to think is a good idea of what they would want
for an SBC. What I am looking for is something that mounts on top
of a 5.25" disk drive. GMX (or Gimix, depending on how far back
you go) makes such a board, called the GMX Micro-20. It is a 5.25 x 7"
board with an 020, 2 megs of ram, a SCSI interface, four serial ports,
two parallel ports and socket for 882 coprocessor. It can handle two
floppies up to 720k. What I am looking for is something similar to that,
to replace my 68008 SBC, which has similar capabilities and IS mounted
on top of a 5.25" floppy. (Well, sort of. It's mounted in an Integrand
Research case with mounts spaced just like the bolt-pattern of a 5.25" drive.)
The idea is I am wondering what systems are available similar to the Micro-20.
I'd also like to know approximate prices, if available. I know the Micro-20
goes for around 3,500 or so retail.

When they first came out they had a sale for $1795 + software. Really a
good price. I have one I put in a PC Clone case and am thinking about using
it for Minix. Basically it's unused now though. The thing I don't like
about it is it doesn't have an MMU. I've heard of an 030 adaptor, but I lost
the address. Anyone seen some lower priced adaptors?
