[comp.os.os9] OS-9 archive sites...?

binkley@skipper.dfrf.nasa.gov (Rob -Not from Bloom County- Binkley) (10/20/89)

I was wondering if the exists an archive site for OS-9 software?
I recently began development work on an OS-9/6800 v2.3 system and
I am VERY interested in finding a replacement shell (csh?) and vi
for OS-9.

I understand there is a PD package called TOPS(?) from Germany,
but I don't know any more about it...

Thanks,

There is an user group in USA, in Europe (EFFO) and TOPS, which have a lot
of interesting sources.

The shell is under development, but it is not the csh. Ask Wolfgang Ocker,
Lochhauserstr. ?, 8039 Puchheim, BRD for further details. I don't know, if vi
is available, but micro-emacs 3.9e+ is (I use it day by day).

TOPS implemented a lot of utilities, a mail system and a Window system. The
last runs on the Atari ST (monochrom Monitor!, quite good with OS9, far
better than these OS/2 (= half OS) toy computers for the infantil manager.
The only thing you miss is the prestige having a PC (= Primitiv Computer)).
It is the MGR-System from Bellcore developed for the SUN Workstation.
They have also a good UNIX-compatibility lib and RCS (Revision Control
System from Prof. Tichy).
Other parts are the PTY-Drivers and the PTY-Manager posted sometime ago in
this Newsgroup.

I hope this Informations help you. Goog luck Knut Grunwald.

I have the tops projects and will be setting up the BBS that comes with it soon
, since the copyright notice states that you must make it available I will.
I'll also set up the uucp, but first I must figure it out. When everything is
finished I post a message to that effect. I also have other software and source
I will make available!

Are these (and any other software) available via anonymous ftp from any
site? Is there any other way to obtain this from the user groups?
If there is not any archive site, is there an interest in one?

I am interested in obtaining the TOPS package, but I don't wanna
pay Microware $100 for a public domain package.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...
