[comp.os.os9] WANTED: UNIX C functions emulation in OS9

schuh@Pacer.UUCP (Michael Schuh) (03/14/90)

Hello everyone!

We are looking for C library porting tools to assist in moving some
UNIX code to OS9. What we seek are emulations of UNIX functions
(system calls and the like) that do not have exact OS9 equivalents.

Does anyone have such a collection of tools/functions? If not, does
anyone know of such a collection? We'd prefer something "free",
but a reasonably priced commercial product would be considered.

Assuming you mean os9/68k rather than the 6809 version, there are
a few around. The German TOPS group distributes one. I've heard
theres one on BIX, and I've been building one of my own. I won't
claim to be objective, but most of mine was built after seeing the
TOPS one. A few pieces of mine have been distributed (varargs.h,
v*printf, link/rename) but in general it's not yet ready for distribution.
Some day I may get around to getting it in shape and giving it away.

(If you need personalized service, we can discuss my consultation
rates in private. I recomend getting the stuff I released to pubic
domain from one of the places I left it (compuserve/comp.sources.misc/
comp.os.os9) or from someone that already has it.)

Like many other os9/68k users, I am very interested in different
Software for my machine (especially free).
I looked into TOPS but they require that you send them disks and
a return envelope (which turned out to be an international hassle).
I am not at all familiar with BIX, is this an online archives ?
