A relatively thorough discussion of various input devices (including mice, light pens, & track-balls) appeared on the Works mailing- list/digest about 2 years ago. Admittedly some of the hardware is slightly fancier now, but the basic issues remain unchanged. There is a copy of the Works Transcrpt WORKSTATION INPUT DEVICES available on the CMU-CS-A as TOUCH.PAN[A780SH31]. If you want a copy and are unable to FTP it send mail, and I mail you a copy.
