[comp.os.os9] OS-9 on Atari ST

Yes, OS-9 is a multi-user, multi-tasking OS, and yes, there is a version which
runs on the ST. OS-9 is a Unix-like operating system, but this has more to
do with the conceptual basis of the OS than with the commands. Don't expect
to be able to just sit down at an OS-9 system and type Unix commands....it
just won't work (unless that system has some of the numerous Unix workalike
utilities installed ;) Other command differences: rm => del ; ps => procs
mkdir => makdir ; rmdir => deldir ; etc.

I'm not sure how much mem is required on the ST, but in general OS-9 is has
a small kernal. The original version of OS-9 was written for the 6809 MPU,
so it had to run in 64K and leave room for apps (which it did admirably).

I'm sure someone else in this group (or in one of the osk groups) will pop
up and provide info such as addresses and phone numbers (which I don't have).
