So, you are asking yourself, what is 'vosh'? Well, 'vosh' does
not exist. So it is nothing. :-) Actually, what 'vosh' is is an idea.
It is short for "voice shell". So now everybody is getting excited.
Is Jim going to write a voice shell? Well, no. I just thought about
it and decided to suggest it. There's a point to this:
The Atari STE can be tricked out to 4 Meg. of RAM. It has reasonable
cost hard drive and D to A capabilities. There are many handicapped
people around (blind and quadraplegic) who would probably appreciate a
relatively low cost and reliable and powerful computer system.
The 4 Meg RAM, 8 MHz 68000 processor, D to A and hard drive capabilities
combined with a good OS (gee, maybe OS-9? :-) would seem to add up
to a very good basis for such a voice actuated computing system.
The first step would be to write a shell. And that's the though.
"Vosh"!
Now I've thrown out the idea, maybe some of you guys in the Universities
might consider it for a thesis project.
Cheers! -- Jim O.
