Does anybody out there know the appropriate way to get the TOP version of Nethack to run? I have tried, yet as far as I can get is to the error message 'Cannot get status of nethack3'. I have the following files: nethack3, nethack, nh305_nethack3. I have set up the directory /h0/usr/games/lib/nethack3dir. Am I missing files? This is entirely possible, as I have not yet managed to get the TOP package in its entirety. I can get any specific files I need, but our machines here do not have the resources to deal with the whole package... Can anybody help? Thanks in advance. Russ

At last it cme out that there wasn't enough memory to run nethack 3. Maybe that's your problem, too. Be sure to have enough memory (about 2 meg should be sufficient). the binary should be called nethack3, the default dir is /h0/usr/games/nethack3dir. |I have the following files: nethack3, nethack, nh305_nethack3. nethack3 is the executable, nh305... should be the tared directory /h0/usr/games/nethack3dir. Nethack might be the executable of Version 2.
