Try Sculptor. This package is available for OSK as well as MS-DOS and
a few other operating systems, so portability of 'code' and data is
very easy. Not sure of the publisher... maybe somebody else out there
knows who makes this...

if they still sell it.

Microware offers SmartWare, which includes a word processor, spreadsheet, and
relational database (which can import/export dBase files).

Also, the package dbVista has been ported. Call me at (408)980-0201 for more
information.

Note: These are both for OS-9/680x0, and are 'industrially-priced' - that is,
your average home user may find the price a bit higher than most off-
      the-shelf software.

Best-known distributor of Sculptor is Frank Hogg Labs in Syracuse, NY.
I think Frank is just a distributor.
His price varies all over the map -- usually high, but
he often has sales or Coco-Fest specials on things.
Try asking for the "Atlanta Fest" price.

Thanks to all for your timely responses. This note is just to let you know
where I am at the moment.

First of all, our platform is a 68030 with LOTS of memory
which may or may not narrow down the field a bit.
There are currently TWO database platforms around. I don't have particulars
on either yet. (They are forthcoming, I will post more information if
desired when they arrive.)

The first is called IMS and is by Clearbrook Software Group located somewhere
in Washington State (604 853 9118). Frank Hogg Labs is the distributor for
this package. Someone at Frank's place tells me that this is a forth-generation
package that is better and cheaper than Sculptor. Anyone know anything
about this?

The second is Sculptor which seemingly will run on anything (they have
a wide variety of platforms under their belts) and can be had through
a company called DELMAR in Middletown Delaware (302 378 2555). Delmar
has a demo package available for most PC compatible machines.

I am due to receive packages from both outfits and will forward
details when I get'em.

Sculptor is not a relational database, but rather a 4GL. I have used
Sculptor, on and off, for the past four to five years. It is good
for developing end user type applications. Portability is excellent.
I have taken code from various Unixes to MS-DOS to Uniflex without
having to recompile, and to VMS with a recompile (no longer needed, I'm
told).

It is distributed in the UK and Australia by MicroProcessor Developments
(MPD). I think it was distributed in the US by Frank Hogg, but I'm not
sure.

I'm only a satisfied customer ...
