[comp.os.os9] better make utility

keller@bernina.ethz.ch (Christoph Keller) (06/18/91)

Does somebody have a better "make" than the standard make utility
provided in OS/9. Actually I am looking for a make that is pretty much
Unix compatible. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Use the V7MAKE from the TOP package. It's UNIX V7 make compatible and
work a *lot* better than uware make. You can get it via FTP from smilodon.
Or arrange a FTP transfer from unibas to bernina.

PS: It's OS-9, not OS/9 (the / sign is reserved for that other half operating
    system...)

There's a V7Make in the TOP-Package. It seems to be a UNIX-like make, but
I did not really use it yet.

Microware now has available for resident OS-9 use Polytron Version Control
System (PVCS), which includes PolyMake, a Unix-compatible make with many
additional features. PVCS is a very nicely-implemented source code librarian
popular on both MS-DOS and Unix platforms. Contact your local Microware
representative or distributor for more information.
