What with all the recent discussion about machines, I'd like to ask a
question I heard over another network.

A small school has about $100,000 to spend on new equipment for a small
C.S. department. They're interested in a UNIX environment, but don't want
to spend the money for a VAX. They don't really want to get a PDP-11
because it's so memory limited.

They're looking at small workstations, since they feel that this provides
an exapandable resource. In particular, they've been thinking of an HP-9000
or two. It's not clear that graphics is a high-priority item for them.
Does anyone out there have any recommendations for them as far as companies
to look into? I pointed them towards Sun, but I was hoping that someone out
there might have a good reliable company for them to look into.
