UNIX DISK AND TAPE DEVICE DRIVERS FROM CIPRICO

Ciprico Inc., a leading manufacturer of mass storage
controllers and adapters for open bus systems, offers a complete
line of UNIX device drivers compatible with Ciprico products.
The drivers provide users with an easy method of integrating
Ciprico disk and tape controllers and SCSI host bus adapters into
VMEbus, Multibus I and Multibus II compatible systems.

                                     Intel, and NCR

Ciprico is a leading supplier (having shipped over 40,000
boards, worldwide) of disk and tape controllers and SCSI host bus
adapters for the three most widely accepted high performance open
bus architectures, VMEbus, the Multibus I bus and the Multibus II
bus. Ciprico is a premier leader in the mass storage
controller/adapter market, supplying innovative products since
1980. One of the most successful products ever produced was the
Tapemaster Multibus half-inch tape controller. It was the first
open system bus tape controller to incorporate DMA.

Ciprico continues in its role as an industry pioneer. It is
the first company to offer a full line of high performance
controller and adapter products for the Multibus II bus. Within
the Rimfire and Tapemaster series of Multibus II controllers and
adapters are boards compatible with the SMD disk interface, the
Pertec half-inch tape interface, and the SCSI peripheral bus.

Complete lines of Rimfire and Tapemaster boards are also
available to Multibus I bus and VMEbus users. High performance
Rimfire ESDI and SMD disk controllers are available for both
buses. A Tapemaster series half-inch tape controller is also
available for both buses. For VMEbus users, Ciprico produces the
most cost effective, high performance dual function SCSI host bus
adapter.

Readily available UNIX device drivers are one part of
Ciprico's comprehensive support program. With one of the
industry's largest support staffs and a team of dedicated UNIX
software engineers developing drivers, integrating a Ciprico
controller/adapter is a simple process. Drivers, which are
available for a nominal charge of $75, are shipped on a standard
media in source code form. A manual is included with each driver
and provides the required information for configuring and
installing the driver.

Drivers for various versions of the UNIX operating system
are available. In general, a driver compatible with the System V
and the BSD 4.2 versions are available for each board. XENIX
drivers are available for selected products. The drivers were
developed on industry standard systems from major system vendors.
Systems from Motorola, NCR, and Intel are used for System V
drivers. XENIX drivers are developed on Intel machines.

Various models of Sun Workstations are used for BSD 4.2
drivers. In addition, boot software for Sun Series-3
Workstations is available, allowing users to boot their Suns
directly from Ciprico disk controllers.

When appropriate, Ciprico also supplies utility programs
with drivers. These utilities provide a convenient method of
performing routine operations, such as formatting and mapping a
disk drive.

Driver support is provided by Ciprico's Support Engineering
Department. Ciprico's support engineers are proficient in driver
installation and configuration as well as possessing extensive
knowledge of the controller/adapters themselves. For special
needs, on-site visits by Ciprico support engineers are routine.
