LatiCorp Inc. is looking for a few beta test sites for its new
text search and retrieval software package -- CONTEXT.
CONTEXT is a powerful tool for searching electronic text .
CONTEXT allows any text to be searched and retrieved without
structuring or defining fields in advance. Its applications include
word processing, publishing, software development, forms processing
and legal, medical and scientific research. With CONTEXT, it's
easy to locate words, phrases, and thoughts in electronic
documents. The user fills out a simple but powerful search form,
and is quickly shown every occurrence of the requested information,
in the original documents. On a personal computer or a Unix
based scientific workstation, CONTEXT can find stored boilerplate
text for a proposal. On a UNIX server or timesharing system,
CONTEXT can act as an intelligent librarian for a department's
litigation support material. After searching, information can be
browsed, or modified and printed with a linked word processor or
editor.
CONTEXT will search on ASCII files, C sources (text, strings and
comment fields), and documents from supported word processors.
In the first release, this includes Latitude (LatiCorp's word
processor for UNIX), WordStar, WordPerfect and Microsoft Word.
Searches may use Boolean, proximity, limiting and ranging
operators, a synonym thesaurus and a stop list. Dates, values and
user defined fields may also be searched.
The CONTEXT beta test kit is available now for PC DOS and Ultrix;
ATT 3BX and PC/AT under SCO Xenix will bollow shortly.
We are looking for sites who are willing to give us feedback.
LatiCorp will provide full support throughout the test cycle.
When the product is released we will exchange the beta kit for
a standard retail package free of charge.
