[comp.newprod] X11 Programming Manual available

adrian@ora.UUCP (Adrian Nye ) (11/10/87)

A two-volume set consisting of a programming tutorial and
a reference for version 11 of the X Window System is now
available for sale or license.

Volume 1 describes the concepts behind Xlib programming,
describes most of the important function calls and structures,
and gives programming examples. 330 pp.

Volume 2 is a permuted index and manpages for each function.
335 pp.

The Xtoolkit is introduced but not described in detail since
MIT hasn't finished it yet. Also, how to use the user level
clients such as xterm and uwm is not covered in this manual.

This is the only known programming manual for X11 other
than the reference material provided by MIT in the X
distribution.

The price is yet to be determined, but will be approximately
$50 per set, depending on the quantity printed (the more we
are able to print, the lower the price will be).
