BOSTON, December 15, 1987 -- The Boston Software Works, Inc. today
announces InterOFFICE, a transparent electronic mail gateway that
integrates the world's two premier office automation systems -- Wang's
OFFICE and DEC's ALL-IN-1.

InterOFFICE provides complete and seamless integration of the OFFICE
and ALL-IN-1 messaging systems. It allows users of either system to
send messages of all types, including word processing documents, to
users of the other system. InterOFFICE's integrated document
conversion software automatically translates between Wang and DEC word
processing formats, allowing users to share revisable word processing
documents between the two systems.

InterOFFICE is completely transparent to end users. It automatically
enters all ALL-IN-1 users in the Wang OFFICE user directory, and
enters all OFFICE users in the ALL-IN-1 user profile. OFFICE users
can thus send mail to ALL-IN-1 users just as though they were local
OFFICE users, and ALL-IN-1 users can send mail to OFFICE users as
though they were local ALL-IN-1 users; no cumbersome foreign
addressing formats are required.

InterOFFICE's hardware requirements are modest. InterOFFICE operates
over a serial line, so any system with a spare serial line can run
InterOFFICE. And by using modems, the Wang and DEC systems can be
connected as easily across the ocean as across the room.

InterOFFICE was developed by The Boston Software Works for Wang
Laboratories, Inc. and will be sold and supported by Wang. It is now
in beta test at several sites, including two major financial
institutions, an aerospace manufacturing firm, and a federal
government agency. InterOFFICE will be generally available in January
of 1988.

The Boston Software Works is a three year old privately held software
development firm specializing in office automation and software
development productivity tools. Other products by The Boston Software
Works include LC-Term -- an integrated asynchronous communications
package for personal computers, BSW-Make -- a software configuration
manager for VAXes and PCs, and FELIX -- a pop-up desk accessory
program for PCs.
