RABBIT RELEASES SCO XENIX 386 VERSION OF 3270 SNA AND BSC COMMUNICATIONS SOFTWARE MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA (February 11, 1988) -- Rabbit Software Corporation today announced the availability of its 3270 SNA and Bisynchronous software products for personal computer systems operating under SCO XENIX 386. The products, called RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA and RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC, enable a 386 PC compatible to emulate the IBM 3270 family of devices, including terminals, printers, and controllers. RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA =================== RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA enables a 386 PC to communicate with an IBM mainframe using 3270 data streams and IBM SNA protocols. It also supports the IBM PC File Transfer Protocol (IND$FILE). RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA emulates and supports IBM 3277, 3278, and 3279 terminals; LU Type 1 and 3 printers; 3286 (Model 2) and 3287 (Models 1 and 2) printers; and 3274 and 3276 (Model 12) control units. RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC =================== RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC enables a 386 to communicate with an IBM mainframe using binary synchronous protocols. It can operate as either a standalone work- station or in a multi-user environment with attached asynchronous terminals. It also supports the IBM PC File Transfer Protocol (IND$FILE). RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC emulates and supports IBM 3277, 3278, and 3279 terminals; 3286 (Model 2) and 3287 (Models 1 and 2) printers; and 3271 (Model 2), 3274 (Models 21C, 31C, 41C, 51C, and 61C), 3275 (Model 2), and 3276 (Model 2) control units. Both RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA and RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC provide all standard 3270 features PLUS the following additional features: o MULTI-SESSION -- up to 6 concurrent LU sessions on each terminal, up to a total of 32 concurrent sessions. o SUSPEND/RESUME -- LU sessions can be suspended while local processing is performed. Sessions can then resume at the same point at which suspended. o READ AHEAD -- Request the next screen from the host while the current screen is being viewed. o BROWSE -- Enables a user to page back and forth through previous screens without host re-transmission. o SCREEN-TO-FILE -- Copies host data to a file without host re-transmission. o SCREEN-TO-PRINTER -- Copies host data to a printer without host re- transmission. o CURSOR-SELECT -- Selects standard lightpen-detectable fields. o PASSWORD SECURITY -- Enables the definition of local passwords on an LU-by-LU basis. o RECORD -- Records input being sent to the host or output being returned from the host. RabbitPLUS 3270-SNA is priced at $1,395 and uses an IBM SDLC adapter board. RabbitPLUS 3270-BSC is priced at $1,995 and includes both the software and a multi-protocol adapter board. Both are available for immediate delivery. Rabbit Software provides and supports products and services that enable people to more effectively use computer networks while enabling organizations to achieve enterprise-wide cooperative processing solutions through industry standards. Rabbit common stock is traded in the over-the-counter market under the NASDAQ symbol RABT.
