MKS Trilogy -- three utilities for XENIX and Microport Mortice Kern Systems Inc. is pleased to announce the release of the MKS Trilogy with shipping scheduled to commence on May 6, 1988. MKS Trilogy provides three essential replacement utilities -- MKS Korn shell, MKS AWK and MKS Crypt -- for Xenix and Microport users. MKS Trilogy is delivered on DSDD 5.25" diskettes, (or 720K 3.5" diskettes, please specify when ordering), accompanied by complete technical documentation. MKS Korn Shell The MKS version of Bell Labs' Korn Shell provides the full power of the UNIX System V.3 (Bourne) shell plus the most requested features of Berkeley's C shell. The MKS Korn shell offers: * command aliasing and tracking; * previous command history with editing and re-execution; * VI and EMACS command editing modes; * faster shell script execution; * shell variable arrays; * the ability to write shell functions; * arithmetic evaluation through the "let" command MKS AWK MKS AWK is a powerful, versatile first language for non-programmers and a sophisticated data retrieval and report generation tool for the experienced user. It is a natural introduction to mastering the C programming language. Based on a sequence of concise pattern/action rules, MKS AWK allows users to manipulate files for retrieval, transformation, reduction and validation of data. MKS AWK is fully compatible with the functionality described in "The AWK Programming Language," by Aho, Weinberger, and Kernighan (Addison- Wesley, 1987). MKS AWK provides: * access to command-line arguments; * user-definable functions; * faster execution; * associative arrays and regular expressions; * multi-dimensional arrays; * an excellent prototyping tool for testing new algorithms; * selection of input and output streams; MKS Crypt MKS Crypt provides file encryption with the choice of using either the UNIX compatible Engima rotor machine algorithm or the National Bureau of Standards Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS MKS Trilogy runs under either SCO System V XENIX-286 or Microport V/AT. The software, which is not copy protected, is shipped on either DSDD 5 1/4" or 720K 3 1/2" floppies. Please specify when ordering. MKS Trilogy comes with complete technical documentation to cover the above commands. This documentation is in a form that fits easily into standard XENIX and Microport manuals. PRICE The price of the MKS Trilogy is $119.00. Additional CPU licenses are $55.00. All prices are quoted in $US. Site/network licenses are available. SHIPPING The package is shipped via UPS ground in the continental US and via first class mail elsewhere.
