ANNOUNCES IMAGE PROCESSING SYSTEM FOR LESS THAN $30,000 SAN JOSE, Calif., July 29, 1988 - Vicom Systems has introduces an image processing workstation that will sell for under $30,000. The unit comes with Vicom image processing software and hardware. It is built on the VMEbus and is peripheral to a user-supplied Sun-3 workstation functioning as a host. The Vicom workstation comes equipped with four Vicom image processing boards: a point/ensamble processor, a spatial convolver, 2MB of image memory, and a 512 buffered display processor. Additionally, 2 option slots remain for the user's choice of a digitizer or additional memory. Also included is a VMEbus to VMEbus repeater used to interface the unit to the user's Sun-3. Vicom Image Processing Software (VIPS) is a full-featured set of libraries and commands that allow users to perform a multitude of image processing tasks. Both of these levels of software take advantage of more that 50 man-years of Vicom image processing algorithm development. Vicom is now accepting orders for this image processing workstation for December 1988 deliveries.
