Experts agree that the Twenty-First Century will be the era of the ultra-small. Even now, the electronics, medical, materials, and biotechnology industries are able to routinely design, and fabricate or synthesize products with molecular-level tolerances. Soon, it will become difficult to classify a product using older terminology. Molecular engineering will inevitably blur the distinction between microelectronics, bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and ultrachemistry. Clearly, an interdisciplinary approach will be necessary to realize the full potential of this movement towards the ultra-small. With this in mind, "Nanotechnology & Microengineering Progress" reports on all aspects of the evolving micron-tolerance industry. Special attention is given to indentifying interdisciplinary opportunities that might be otherwise missed by specialists. Specifically, "Nanotechnology & Microengineering Progress" is a quarterly newsletter designed to keep the reader up-to-date on the evolving international effort to research, design, and market micron-scale devices and processes. Every issue of "Nanotechnology & Microengineering Progress" will feature over thirty pages of articles, interviews, abstracts, patents, profiles, company announcements, and surveys, organized into five sections: Microchips, Molecular Engineering, Micromachines, Sensors, and Microstructures and Micromechanics. "Nanotechnology & Microengineering Progress" includes in its scope any system engineered to micron or smaller tolerances. -- while !working { Skate(||) }; J.
