[comp.newprod] MKS Make

wheels@mks.UUCP (Gerry Wheeler) (01/18/89)

MKS Make offers users an efficient way to automate the production and
maintenance of any project -- large or small. MKS Make automatically
regenerates the desired program by understanding the interdependencies
among all of the components. Users save valuable time and eliminate
needless errors in recompiling.

Users will also find MKS Make an aid in maintaining any size
documentation projects. Each time a large document or report needs
updating, MKS Make will quickly reconstruct all the updated sections,
from title page to the glossary, in the correct order.

MKS Make comes complete with a full AR librarian program. This means
that your maintenance and building tools are all provided in one
convenient, cost-effective package.

MKS Make runs on DOS but provides full UNIX System V AUGMAKE and SunOS
Make extensions. Now with MKS Make is it possible to achieve automated
software building in a mixed UNIX and DOS environment using the same
makefiles.

MKS Make is specially configured to provide:

*  complete functionality with DOS or the MKS Korn Shell;

* the ability to automate large software projects which
   have multiple versions and/or authors by working with
   MKS RCS (Revision Control System);

*  full UNIX System V AUGMAKE;

*  a complete AR librarian with unlimited command line length abilities;

* metarules and dynamic dependencies as in SunOS Make to handle
   the most complex program generation;

* default rules in a global system file and in local user
   or project files;

*  complete user configurability;

* compatibility with a wide range of compilers such as Turbo C,
   Microsoft C and Watcom C;

*  compatibility with a wide range of librarians and linkers;

* complete tutorial and technical reference materials
   including copious examples of how the software works with
   other commercial products;

Technical Specifications

   MKS Make runs under DOS 2.0 or higher on the IBM PS/2,
   IBM PC family and compatibles. Although it is not required,
   a hard disk is recommended for improved performance
   and convenience. The software is shipped on either
   360K 5 1/4" or 720K 3 1/2" floppy disks and is not copy
   protected. Please specify disk size when ordering.
