A completely integrated waveform processing software system has been in- troduced by Vespine Corporation. W.A.V.E. is a data analysis and acquisi- tion tooldeveloped for technical professionals who routinely use wave forms in their work. The new tool can directly create, acquire, and manipulate wave-forms of any size,limited only by the amount of memory and disk space available. With W.A.V.E.,a user can explore theoretical or experimental data using complicated waveformswith the same ease that numbers can be manip- ulated on a calculator. W.A.V.E. was designed with improved productivity and ease of learning in mind. The program provides on-line help, mouse control of menus and graphics,interactive panels with intelligent defaults for automating data entry, and anintelligent set of data manipulation commands. Additional productivity features include macro capability, workspace and macro editors, a waveform element editor, Lotus 1-2-3 file compatibility, access to MS-DOS programs from within W.A.V.E., control of the user interface, and the ability to keep waveforms and graphics intact between work sessions. A spreadsheet-like capability enables the user to perform "what-if" analysis. The engineering knowledge embedded in W.A.V.E. eliminates the tedious and often error-prone tasks involved in signal analysis. Full symbolic pro- cessing of engineering units is supported. Over 150 specialized functions are available, including signal processing and statistics. The ability to acquire data through standard IEEE-488 interface permits the user to perform the full cycle of data gathering and analysis in a single environment. W.A.V.E. supports a full range of data types, including waveforms, vectors, matrices, scalars, and strings. Data is automatically typed according to its use so there is no need for declaration statements. Graphics are essential to the understanding of waveform information. W.A.V.E. features integrated full-color graphics with "live" data. Rectangu- lar plots, Smith charts, polar plots, contour charts, and 3-D mesh plots are provided. W.A.V.E. supports graphics printers and plotters and is compati- ble with desktop publishing systems. W.A.V.E. is designed for use on the IBM-PC/XT/AT and IBM PS/2 family of computers and compatibles.
