Waves+ -- Interactive Graphics for Signal Processing

Waves+ supports viewing and manipulating waveforms, spectrograms, and
related signal-processing data. It is available as a standalone
program and as an integrated front-end for the Entropic Signal
Processing System (ESPS), a more general UNIX-based signal processing
software package.

Waves+ exploits windows, pop-up menus, and mouse interaction to
facilitate the time-synchronous viewing, panning, zooming, editing,
annotation, spectrum analysis, and playback of multiple signal
representations. Time-coordinated windows with synchronous cursors
can display sampled-data, spectrograms, and analysis-parameter tracks.
Arbitrary vector time-series data can be displayed in spectrogram
format. If a special AT&T signal processing board is installed, it is
used for analog I/O and near-real-time spectrogram computation.
Otherwise, spectrograms are computed by standard ESPS programs. For
speech sampled data, formant tracks can be computed, overlaid on
spectrogram displays, and edited by hand. On color monitors, the
mouse is used dynamically to change spectrogram contour thresholds and
intensity mappings. On single-plane monitors, digital halftone images
are displayed. Waves+\fR may be customized to perform a variety of
specialized tasks through the use of command files and shell scripts.

Waves+ supports "attachments", separately-running programs that
communicate with waves+ via unix pipes and allow extended operations
to be performed on waves+ signals. Waves+ includes standard
attachments for spectrum analysis and for the interactive annotation
of sampled data.

Waves+ runs on Sun 3, Sun 4, and Sun 386i systems. An X-Windows
version will be available later this year. Entropic's waves+ products
are derived from software developed at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Murray
Hill, that has been licensed and extended by Entropic.

List prices are $1500-$3750. Academic discount is 50%.
