Intergraph Corporation Announces New 20 MIPS Server --
the InterServe 3505

Huntsville, Alabama, February 28, 1989 -- Intergraph Corporation
today announced the InterServe 3505 server, the first of Intergraph's
new series of workstations and servers to bring 20 million
instructions per second (MIPS) of processing power to the
high-performance UNIX market. Powered by the Clipper C300 PLUS
microprocessor system, the InterServe 3505 supports industry
standards, making it ideal as a shared resource for running a wide
array of application software from Intergraph and third-party
suppliers. Intergraph's continued commitment to binary compatibility
ensures that existing software developed for other Intergraph Clipper
workstations and servers will run without modification on the
InterServe 3505.

"The InterServe 3505 can provide, in a compact footprint, shared
compute and file resources for departmental groups on a network," said
Loyd Tarver, Executive Director of Workstation Marketing for
Intergraph. "With its high-performance architecture, main memory
expandable from 32 to 160 megabytes and up to 6.5 gigabytes of disk
storage, this product puts Intergraph in a leadership position. It can
satisfy the heavy demands of compute-intensive applications such as 3D
modelling, electronic circuit simulations, and large data file
manipulations." Tarver explained the higher performance by saying,
"The 20 MIPS performance is achieved by improving the system's cache
speed and hit ratio. Twin 256Kb caches are connected to an enhanced
128-bit memory system featuring bus bandwidths in excess of 200MB per
second."

Packaged in a desk-high, 19-inch cabinet, the InterServe 3505 is
designed for office or laboratory use. "With this new product,
Intergraph offers a product line providing binary compatibility across
a performance range extending from 4 MIPS to 20 MIPS -- a capability
that no other workstation vendor has," says William Zarecor, Executive
Vice President of Marketing for Intergraph.

The InterServe 3505 will be available third quarter, 1989, priced at
$76,000. The InterServe 3005 is upgradable to the InterServe 3505.
