May, 1989 ... The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. is now accepting
end user subscriptions to the SCO Online Support System, known as
"SOS." Service and availability information follow:

PRODUCT NAME: SOS Basic Service
DESCRIPTION:
SOS is an online support system that provides valuable information
about SCO products and services, such as the SCO Training schedule,
articles from DiSCOver, new product announcements, a large technical
database, and many other features. Topics are presented using the
familiar SCO Lyrix menu system, providing the most current information
available from SCO.
SOS Basic Service provides read-only access to the SOS system for
end users who need support information, but do not require SCO SoftCare
or SCO SoftTech support. Basic service also includes a subscription
to DiSCOver, SCO's newsletter and technical bulletin.
The SOS system operates at 2400, 1200, and 300 baud, 24 hours a
day, less down time for maintenance. You can gain access to
SOS with the SCO XENIX "cu" command, or almost any other
computer with a serial communications software package. You
can also use a terminal directly connected to a modem.
SOS Basic Service does not allow the user to submit support
requests, and is therefore not appropriate for Resellers,
Developers, or others needing more comprehensive support.
Customers who wish to submit support requests must purchase SCO
SoftCare or SCO SoftTech, or join the SCO Developer Program.
Customers with SCO SoftCare or SCO SoftTech service receive access
to SOS as part of their support agreements and do not need
SOS Basic Service in addition to their SCO SoftCare or SCO SoftTech.
