June 15, 1989 ...  The Santa Cruz Operation, Inc. is accepting
orders for SCO UNIX System V/386 Operating System Release 3.2
and SCO UNIX System V/386 Development System Release 3.2 on
5-1/4" 96tpi media.

The SCO UNIX System V/386 Operating System Release 3.2
is a fully AT&T-licensed implementation of UNIX System V/386
Release 3.2 for industry-standard 80386-based computers.  It is
a multiuser, multitasking environment that runs both XENIX and
UNIX System-based applications.  When used with SCO VP/ix or
with SCO Open Desktop, it can also run MS-DOS applications.

SCO UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2 provides many features not
found in SCO XENIX System V.  It conforms with X/Open Common
Applications Environment (CAE) and IEEE POSIX (1003.1)
specifications, and includes Federal Information Processing
Standard (FIPS) extensions, as well as C2-level security as
defined by the U.S.  Government's National Computer Security
Center TCSEC.  The SCO UNIX System V/386 Operating System
offers an integrated system administration shell and MMDF II
mail system.  The SCO UNIX System V/386 Development System
includes XENIX, DOS, and OS/2 cross development as well as
CodeView.  Both products contain numerous Berkeley extensions.

   - Contains the ACER Fast File System to improve overall system
     performance
   - Conforms to the NCSC C2 security level and provides, on
     demand, a complete audit trail of all system activity
   - POSIX conformance
   - X/Open Common Applications Environment (CAE) conformance
   - National Language Support (NLS)
   - On-line documentation (manual pages) is included for both the
     Operating System and Development System
   - Supports ESDI, SCSI, and ST-506 disk controllers
   - Provides the AT&T C compiler and the enhanced Microsoft
     Optimizing C 5.1 compiler
   - Full screen, window oriented debugging capabilities using
     Microsoft CodeView
   - Includes Streams
   - Complete international support including ANSI X3J11
   - Compiled using Microsoft Optimizing C compiler in COFF format

Initial customer shipments of the SCO UNIX System V/386 Operating
System on 80386-based computers that have AT busses and 5-1/4"
media will begin on June 30, 1989. A 3.5" version will be also
be available shortly.  A Micro Channel version is currently under
development.

The SCO UNIX System V/386 Development System is anticipated to
begin first customer shipments in early August, 1989.
