ACC INTRODUCES X.25 FRONT-END FOR RISC DECsystem 5400 Santa Barbara, CA (September 1, 1989) Advanced Computer Communications has enhanced its ACP 5250 Q-bus resident X.25 controller, to operate in the high performance ULTRIX-based RISC environment of the new DECsystem 5400. The ACP 5250 enhances the attractive price/performance ratio of the DECsystem 5400 by providing a Wide Area Networking (WAN) interface that is directly integrated with the ULTRIX TCP/IP networking kernel. By bringing WAN connections directly into the DECsystem 5400, the ACP 5250 opens the door for a wide variety of commercial applications. With the addition of the ACP 5250, remote applications and users can gain access to the DECsystem 5400 through commercial or private X.25 packet networks. Also part of the ACP 5250 product offering, is the Multi-Protocol Device Driver option, which gives greater applications flexibility by providing for simultaneous operation of TCP/IP, X.29 terminal/PAD, and X.25 packet level interfaces. The ACP 5250 is a Q-bus resident X.25 communication controller card that operates in MicroVAX II, MicroVAX 3000/VAXserver 3000 series, and now the DECsystem 5400. The ACP 5250 is priced at $4,200 for MicroVAX II configurations and $4,400 for MicroVAX 3000/VAXserver 3000 or DECsystem 5400 systems. The Multi-Protocol Device Driver option is priced at $900. The ACP 5250 and Multi-Protocol Device Driver are available immediately.
