                          OSF/MOTIF(tm)

  OSF's X Window System Development and User Environment

	Sun	  Digital	Sony	  Apple

   Available now from Integrated Computer Solutions, Inc.

Developed under the auspices of the Open Software Foundation by
engineers at DEC and HP, Motif will quickly become the toolkit
of choice for applications developers.

Soon to be an industry standard for Xt-based applications, Motif is:
	* Portable to all X platforms.
	* Vendor independant.
	* Supported by OSF and its member companies.
	* Compatible with Presentation Manager behaviour.

As a third generation toolkit, Motif combines the proven technology
of the DEC and HP Toolkits for:
	* An enriched widget set.
	* Improved performance through the use of gadgets.
	* A more elegant appearance with a sophisticated 3-D look.

Motif utilizes UIL (User Interface Language) which:
	* Separates the definition of the appearance of the
	  application from its functionality.
	* Allows a non-programmatic specification of
	  program appearance.
	* Provides rapid prototyping by allowing the user interface
	  to be altered without rebuilding the application.

The Motif Window Manager (mwm):
	* Provides full keyboard access to the interface.
	* Offers "real world" correspondence to desktop metaphors.
	* Allows users great flexibility in configuring their
	  environments.
	* Observes the Inter-Client Communications Conventions (ICCC).

The Motif Style Guide:
	* Provides a framework for consistent content and appearance
	  across all platforms.
	* Directs application programmers in the selection of user-
	  interface components.
	* Presentation Manager(tm) compatible behaviour provides a user
	  migration path from the PC environment.
