XTreeMac(TM), the world's first integrated Macintosh utility to combine disk management with file undelete and security protection has been released by the XTree Company, publishers of XTree and XTreePro, the industry standards in disk management software for the IBM PC, XT, AT, PS/2 and compatible computers. XTreeMac is not just a collection of separate disk management utilities, or a set of individual tools designed for the PC and transported to the Macintosh. XTreeMac is a completely integrated utility that takes full advantage of the intuitive Macintosh user interface and offers users a new and better way to organize, manage and protect valuable hard disk information. With XTreeMac, Macintosh users can finally see a graphic representation of files in a meaningful tree-like display. In seconds, XTreeMac shows users a complete picture of their hard or floppy disk. The $99 utility lets users easily locate, copy, move and delete files from multiple folders, on multiple volumes without clicking their way through a series of windows. EXCLUSIVE FEATURES To work with multiple files from multiple disks simultaneously, XTreeMac has a unique split-window that brings speed and simplicity to file management. While the left side of the window displays the Directory Tree, the right side, called the Deskpad, becomes a visual work surface where files can be gathered and folders manipulated. Deskpad is a convenient collection area where users can assemble files, folders and any application they want to work with. Once inside Deskpad, users can work with items individually or in groups. Files can be copied or moved to a new location or combined with a new folder or dumped in the trash. For the first time, Macintosh users can manage files and clean up their hard disks without moving through a series of windows. Deskpad and the Directory Tree greatly enhances all Macintosh Finder features. Using XTreeMac's Enhanced Finder, users can quickly copy, move, delete, or view file information, create new folders or rename them directly from both the Deskpad and the Directory Tree. For added efficiency, files can be sorted by name, creation date, modification date, size and kind. XTreeMac also features a powerful alternative to the Macintosh Find File called Find and Launch that eliminates the need to manually search through multiple folders -- or even a directory tree -- to "find" and "launch" a file. Using Find and Launch, users can search for files or applications which are then automatically displayed on the directory tree. Single or multiple files can be opened using a single click of a mouse. COMPLETE HARD DISK PROTECTION In addition to its file management capabilities, XTreeMac offers Macintosh users a unique combination of exclusive hard disk protection and security features including data recovery and security protection. Revive-a-File is an ingenious utility that actually remembers the location of deleted files on both a hard and floppy disk for later recovery. Users can recover deleted documents, folders, and applications even after an application has been launched, trashed or the power has been turned off. XTreeMac provides security features to hide, lock, or protect files from being copied. The program can also color-code files (on a Macintosh II only), adding another level of organization and security. XTreeMac is so versatile users can customize their tree displays for specific tasks, so only pertinent items are displayed. For example, users can create custom filters that display only spreadsheet applications, folders, and documents. Users can also specify how many levels of folders they want to see. XTreeMac also provides a handy feature that quickly generates and prints diskette labels on both any 100% Apple Compatible printer. REQUIREMENTS XTreeMac is self-installing and requires an Apple Macintosh 512e, Plus, SE, or II with at least one 3.5" floppy drive, System Version 4.2 and Finder Version 5.3 or higher. Supports HFS only. Telephone technical support is also available free of charge to registered users.
