E-MAIL Gateway for HP connects Wang and DEC systems.

BOSTON, May 21, 1990 - The Boston Software Works, Inc. (BSW) today
announced InterOFFICE/XL, a new product in BSW's family of
InterOFFICE electronic mail gateway products. InterOFFICE/XL
provides transparent electronic mail gateway services between
Hewlett-Packard's DeskManager, Digital Equipment Corporation's
ALL-IN-1 and Wang Laboratories' VS OFFICE office automation
products. Transparent electronic mail gateway connectivity between
these office automation products is achieved by connecting
InterOFFICE/XL with its companion components InterOFFICE/VAX (DEC
ALL-IN-1 gateway) or InterOFFICE/VS (Wang VS OFFICE gateway).

InterOFFICE/XL is a software-only product that installs on a
Hewlett-Packard MPE/XL system running HP's DeskManager office
automation product.

"With this new addition to our product line, we are able to
demonstrate the unique 'mix and match' nature of our gateways",
said Larry Campbell, BSW's Vice President of Product Development.
"With InterOFFICE/XL, BSW now offers department, division and
enterprise wide electronic mail and document exchange for leading
office automation systems."

To achieve transparency for the user, InterOFFICE/XL includes many
convenient features. InterOFFICE/XL's "automatic directory
synchronization" feature eliminates the need for users to learn
complicated addressing procedures in order to send mail to ALL-IN-1
or VS OFFICE users. "Automatic document conversion" allows users
to exchange revisable documents with incompatible formats between
these office automation systems.

The InterOFFICE family's peer-to-peer architecture, requires that
a user install only one copy of InterOFFICE/XL per DeskManager
network. In a separate announcement today, BSW announced the
availability of two new, unbundled versions of InterOFFICE gateway
products that work with InterOFFICE/XL. These products are
InterOFFICE/VS version 1.02 for Wang's VS OFFICE, and
InterOFFICE/VAX version 1.02 for Digital Equipment Corporation's
ALL-IN-1.

Available in September 1990 from the Boston Software Works,
InterOFFICE/XL may be licensed for a one time fee of $4,500 to
$21,500. License fees vary according to machine size. Telephone,
on-site and installation support services are also available.

The Boston Software Works is a five-year-old, privately-held
software development firm, specializing in high quality office
automation integration and coexistence products.
