MAJOR UPGRADE FOR KYSS! SYSTEM ORGANIZER A major upgrade of the KYSS! menu system and disk organizer for personal computers and local area networks has been released by The Information People. KYSS! V3.6 features a faster and even more simplified menu-based operating environment along with many new file and directory management facilities. KYSS! effectively isolates users from the DOS command processor and eliminates the need for batch files by storing process se- quences in standard-form text menu files. These are created either by using the built-in text editor or automatically with a new menu generator utility. In addition, several major programs can now be installed from a pre-defined list. The new release adds more than 30 internal commands to expand the process control capabilities of KYSS! over what one can do using DOS alone. Each process can have multiple operator entries and customized help screens along with context-sensitive help for KYSS! itself. An on-line hypertext manual has also been added. Complete directory and file management facilities are run from a pull-down menu bar. These facilities may be selectively turned on or off, according to individual needs and system security re- quirements. Password protection is available at both the menu and process levels. Passwords are stored in encrypted files which cannot be altered except by using a separate password maintenance program which can be kept off line when not in use. Job tracking can be implemented for each process to record: operator identification; date; job number; description and elapsed time. A new report generator provides several options for sorting and analysis of job tracking data. The publishers have added a unique approach to upgrades: Anyone who has a 3.6 distribution diskette can download free updates from an electronic bulletin board. Arrangements are also being worked on to provide update service on CompuServe. The KYSS! System Organizer is licensed under personal, single- user, and multi-user/LAN arrangements. Suggested retail prices are: $25, $75, and $395, respectively. Special OEM, corporate and educational licenses are also offered.
