The Model 410 color network display station was introduced today at Xhibition by Jupiter Systems as the successor to Jupiter's pioneering Model 310 color display station. With a faster processor, faster graphics, a highly optimized X11R4 server and a list price of only $7,950, Jupiter continues to set the performance pace for the industry and now becomes a price leader as well in the high resolution color market. Featuring a large 19" monitor with 1280x1024 resolution and 256 simultaneous colors from a palette of over 16 million, the Model 410 displays the high information content required for multiple, large windows. Based on a powerful 25 MHz 68030 processor, and using Jupiter's proprietary RFB graphics accelerator, Model 410 provides the performance required by today's most demanding users. With a performance rating of over 35K Xstones, the Model 410 is clearly the performance leader in X terminals today. Supported by Jupiter's highly optimized server software based on Version 11, Release 4 of the X Window System, the Model 410 provides TCP/IP, XDMCP and Telnet protocols allowing the user full use of the resources available on the network. Also provided is hotkey access to a Telnet window. The Telnet window supports VT102 emulation and can be used to access any computer on the net with Telnet capability. Bill Schindler, Jupiter's Director of Sales and Marketing, stated: "Many users have resisted going to X Window because they feel that the performance they need is not available. We would like these people to look at the 410, it will change their minds. Jupiter can deliver performance that exceeds most color workstations, at a fraction of the cost." With its fast vectors, polygons and patterns, Model 410 is ideal for graphics-intensive applications such as CAD, CAE and seismic analysis. With memory expandable to 16 megabytes and special features such as arithmetic pixops and support for 12-bit deep image data, Model 410 is also the best choice for imaging applications such as medical imaging and remote sensing. Jupiter Systems, located on the island of Alameda in San Francisco Bay, has been manufacturing and selling high performance color graphics systems since 1982.
