Eyring Introduces Automated Color Reduction Product
PRISMATIC One-Step Process Gives Best Results
with First Reduction
Provo, Utah, May 4, 1990 -- Eyring, Inc. has announced a new product.
PRISMATIC Color Reduction takes true color images saved in TGA format
and "reduces" them to 256 colors for display on VGA compatible systems.
In addition to color reduction capabilities, PRISMATIC includes a host
of palette editing features. The PRISMATIC product will be released
May 20, 1990.
The PRISMATIC product simplifies color reduction by supplying an auto-
mated process that gives best results with one reduction -- saving the
user time. Using a 386SX PC at 16 MHz, a typical reduction time for a
320 x 200 x 256 color image is 25 seconds.
PRISMATIC can be run from interactive or batch mode and supports mouse
or keyboard input. It is compatible with MS-DOS versions 3.1 to 3.3.
Reduced files can be saved in several formats including GIF, TIFF and
PCX.
PALLETE EDITING OPTIONS
The PRISMATIC program will automatically select the best palette, or
the user can customize the image with the available editing tools.
Before an image is reduced, the user can preselect a color reduction
palette and specify the size of the palette from 2 to 256 colors. The
palette PRISMATIC chooses for one image can be output to a file for use
with other images. Up to five images can be reduced simultaneously to
the same palette. The palette file created with PRISMATIC color reduc-
tion is an ASCII file that can be used for other applications.
The display portion of the program lets the user adjust the image while
it is on screen. Brightness and contrast can be increased or decreased,
as well as the Red, Green and Blue color values. A palette modified
with the display editing options can also be saved for future use.
