Webster Computer launches MultiGate in the U.S.A.
		 International electronic mail release

Webster Computer Corporation announces that the Webster MultiGate is now
available for immediate release in the United States.

The Webster MultiGate has been jointly designed by Webster Computer Corporation
and the Department of Computer Science, University of Melbourne, Australia.

The Webster MultiGate is an AppleTalk router and IP Gateway that provides
AppleTalk routing across four independent AppleTalk networks, an EtherTalk
network and a TCP/IP network. It also provides asynchronous AppleTalk
support when connected to a UNIX host machine.

The Webster MultiGate is a very high performance router. MultiGate uses
DMA controller hardware per LocalTalk channel to handle the data transfer,
leaving the CPU to free to do the protocol handling and routing. This design
allows all four LocalTalk ports to run simultaneously.

The design approach used in the Webster MultiGate avoids the data transfer
slowdowns associated with single channel routers and software routers such
as Apple's Internet Router that rely on the router's CPU to perform data
transfer as well as manage high-level routing protocols.

MultiGate retails in the US for $4,995 and is positioned to effectively
replace as many as four Kinetic's FastPath 4, Cayman's GatorBox or
equivalent routers.

MultiGate enables Macintosh computers to use Ethernet based TCP/IP computers
as Apple Compatible File Servers using the Columbia AppleTalk Package or TOPS
software while also providing print serving and print spooling services to
AppleTalk environments.

Using IPTalk, MultiGate allows IP tunnelling so that AppleTalk data can be
transfered across IP networks via IP routers.

MultiGate also allows remote dial-in to AppleTalk networks via a UNIX host
without the necessity to use dedicated and expensive additional hardware
required by other remote dial-in devices. This approach offers the security
of a UNIX login procedure.

Macintosh users can use applications such as NCSA Telnet to communicate with
UNIX host computers to gain terminal emulation, and remote file transfer using
the FTP application. MultiGate provides simultaneous UNIX logins for multiple
users.
