I am posting this for GIZMO TECHNOLOGIES as they do not have easy Usenet access. Please direct responses to them. ****************************************************************************** GIZMO TECHNOLOGIES ANNOUNCES SEND EXPRESS, NETWORK SOFTWARE FOR MACINTOSH COMPUTERS Gizmo Technologies is currently shipping Send Express, a Macintosh desk accessory that sends files and Clipboard selections directly between Macintosh computers connected to an AppleTalk network. Send Express reduces the cost of network file transfer by eliminating the need for a high priced network server. Send Express is targeted for groups of people who interact and work collaboratively. It is well suited for the office that has a few Macs and a LaserWriter and would now like to send information over the network. Or, it can be used within a large organization possessing hundreds of Macintosh systems as a complement to the existing file servers and E-mail. INSTALL AND GO Installing Send Express is a breeze. You can install it on your Macintosh with just a few mouse clicks -- there is no need to set up or configure a network server. Once installed, the graphical on-line help allows you to get started immediately. NO WAITING Send Express's desk accessory operation makes it instantly accessible from within any application. Unlike other file transfer software, Send Express sends and receives in the background. This allows you to get back to work immediately. MULTIPLE FILES AND MORE... With Send Express, you can send multiple files to several people at once. The files can be of any size or type. Even those files which are too large to fit on a floppy disk can now be transferred. A unique feature allows the sender to attach a comment to send along with the files. When a file or Clipboard selection arrives, the recipient is notified without interrupting his work. The notification options are configurable. COPY AND PASTE ACROSS THE NETWORK Another key feature provided by Send Express is the ability to send Clipboard selections. This lets the user send just part of a document instead of having to send the entire document. Sending Clipboard selections has been streamlined to the point where the user gets the feeling that he is copying and pasting across the network -- copying from a document on one Macintosh and pasting into a document on another. This feature is particularly useful when people are working together on the same project, but on separate Macintoshes. For example, a writer and an illustrator can easily collaborate on a manuscript. And because they're exchanging Clipboard selections, they don't need copies of the same application on both Macs. TECHNICAL DETAILS Send Express can communicate over any AppleTalk compatible network and supports communication between AppleTalk zones. Its unique design allows it to perform well on both high and low speed networks. Even users who are connected through 2400 or 9600 baud serial network bridges can use Send Express. Send Express requires a Macintosh Plus or later model with at least 1 MB of memory. It requires Apple System Software 4.2 or later, and works with both Finder and MultiFinder. AVAILABILITY Send Express is currently available at the suggested retail price of $179 for a five user pack. It can be purchased at a discount through the ComputerWare retail chain. Users may order through ComputerWare's catalog sales by calling (800) 326-0092.
