Mindcraft, Inc. is pleased to announce the availability of the Mindcraft C Portability Verifier(tm). The Mindcraft C Portability Verifier (CPV): * Checks application portability to the POSIX.1, FIPS 151-1, POSIX.2, ANSI C and X/Open standards. * Extends its checking to your standards and Application Environment Profiles. * Provides on-line reference to any function or variable in any standard it checks including your extensions. * Enforces the proper use of standards for both common C and ANSI C source programs. The CPV checks programs written in common-usage C or ANSI C for portability with respect to various standards. It is the tool that is needed to ensure that applications developed on one standard-conforming system can be portable to a different system that conforms to the same standard. The CPV has flexibility built in. It is extensible so that you can check programs for portability to standards other than the ones that come with it. You can define your own Application Environment Profile (AEP, a collection of standards and options in those standards) and have the CPV check applications for portability to that AEP. Thus, the CPV lets you isolate your applications from the differences that exist among the various UNIX(R) implementations by verifying that your applications use only facilities in the AEP you specify. The CPV consists of five major utilities: mclint (checks programs for portability), stdcpp (converts ANSI C programs to common C), mcref (provides on-line reference to the standards), mcextend (builds extensions for checking and reference to other standards), and mcerror (puts error messages in the program source). The CPV comes with both on-line manual pages and a 100 page printed User's Guide. The Mindcraft Portable POSIX Reference Card is included as well. Specifications are subject to change without notice.
