CLOS for Macintosh Allegro Common Lisp available by Modem Tensor Laboratories Tensor Laboratories announces a new service for providing Macintosh Allegro Common Lisp users with the latest version of Xerox's Portable Common Loops (PCL) version of CLOS. The service is available on Tensor Laboratories Electronic Services System (ESS), which may be reached at (415) 855-9099 24 hours per day at 2400 or 1200 baud. If one has access to the Internet, the latest version of PCL can be obtained free of charge, in source form, by anonymous ftp from "arisia.xerox.com". This service is being provided for those users that do not have access to the ftp site, or do not wish to build CLOS from the source form; and because Apple through APDA has not been updating PCL in a timely fashion. "CLOS" consists of the latest compiled version of the Portable Common Loops (PCL) implementation of CLOS provided by Xerox PARC. The compiled code works with Macintosh Allegro Common Lisp version 1.3.1 or 1.3.2. The file has been compressed with StuffIt and is in "hqx" format. The file may be unencoded using UnStuffIt. PCL is governed by a public use license by Xerox and is Copywritten by Xerox. The license is included in the "CLOS" file. As such, Tensor Laboratories is not selling the software, but is charging for the service of providing the latest version of PCL for MACL through its ESS. Furthermore, CLOS may be re-distributed as set forth by Xerox. Cost: $40.00 6-month access to the CLOS file including any updates -- Tensor Laboratories Internet: XB.N54@Forsythe.Stanford.Edu P.O.
