Media Cybernetics announces addition to HALO family Silver Spring, Maryland, August 1, 1990 -- Media Cybernetics, Inc., the leading supplier of micrographics software, today announced HALO Professional, a new product aimed at developers of large, sophisticated graphics applications. The product will be available in September. The HALO family moves into the next generation of graphics tools with this new addition. Unlike previous HALO toolkits, HALO Professional lets you write applications that run in protected mode, the most important feature now required in graphics applications development. By using protected mode, a huge amount of addressable memory space can be accessed making large programs written with HALO Professional run faster and easier. HALO Professional supports the Rational Systems DOS16M, Phar Lap, Ergo OS286 and OS386 DOS Extender-based languages, as well as real mode DOS, and the proprietary Alsys Ada 286. These DOS extenders allow applications to break the 640K limit. HALO Professional is an entirely new developer's toolkit that lets you create and incorporate sophisticated computer-generated graphics into your own applications. Faster performance, superior functions and an easy, dependable structure make HALO Professional ideal for extensive programming development. With a library of more than 200 graphics subroutines, the product is a time-saver for applications developers. "This product represents an extension of our existing HALO graphics technology," said Media Cybernetics President Bill Strum. "While HALO Professional maintains all the power of HALO, additional features make this new product a more powerful graphics toolkit." Bit-mapped cursors allow a professional looking cursor with little programming effort. Multiple active devices allow graphics on more than one dev- ice simultaneously. "HALO Professional is more efficient for running an application because it's small and flexible in memory usage," Strum said. HALO Professional lets programmers develop graphics applications requiring large amounts of memory and high resolution input and output. HALO Professional is ideal for developing programs such as process control, scientific visualization, GIS Mapping, grayscale desktop publishing, and image processing applications. HALO Professional operates on 286 class (or above) PC and requires a 1.2M floppy disk drive, a hard disk and 640K of RAM. The product supports the most popular Ada, Assembler, BASIC, C, Fortran, and Pascal compilers. HALO Professional supports dot matrix, laser, inkjet and thermal transfer printers, in addition to many popular display devices, scanners, and plotters. HALO Professional retails for $595.00. Reseller discounts and license fees may be obtained on an individual basis. Media Cybernetics is a private company founded in 1981.
