Executive Communication Systems (ECS) is pleased to introduce its
Natural Language Toolkits. The Toolkits provide a comprehensive
development environment which includes a morphology rule generator,
a parsing or translation engine, a semantic network utility, and
a lexicon building and maintenance utility. The formalism and tools are
based on Lexical-Functional Grammar and are language-independent:
modifiable control tables and parameters allow quick prototyping
and development of systems for new languages. The Toolkits have
already been used to develop English-Chinese, English-Korean, Korean-English
and English-Japanese translation systems, English-French and French-
-English prototypes, and prototype German and Spanish grammars.
The ECS English Grammar and Lexicon are also available: the grammar
consists of a mature set of English analysis rules, while the lexicon
contains 15,000 fully flagged English words. Chinese and Korean lexica
are also available. Grammars and lexica for other languages are forthcoming.
