TELEBIT T1600 MODEM
Offering Compatibility with V.32 and low speed modems.
Designed and manufactured to conform to the demanding standards of
Telebit's other high-speed dial-up modems, the T1600 provides users
reliable, error-free connectivity at speeds from 300 to 38,400bps.
The T1600 is ideal for applications that require outstanding performance
in addition to universal compatibility with a variety of world-wide
industry standard modems. The T1600, continuing Telebit's tradition of
high performance, is the first in a new generation of high-speed dial-up
modems. Using Telebit's own Digital Signal Processor, the T1600 gives
unparalleled line performance and data throughput at an affordable price.
DISTINCTIVE FEATURES
Universal Interoperability.
The Telebit T1600 automatically adjusts its modulation and speed to that
of the connecting modem, enabling users to communicate with CCITT-standard
and Bell-standard modems without investing in both high- and low-speed
modems. It transparently connects with V.32 modems at 9600bps and 4800bps;
V.22bis modems at 2400bps; V.22, Bell 212A at 1200bps and V.21 or Bell 103J
modems at 300 bps.
Error Control.
The T1600 is fully compliant with the CCITT V.42 LAP-M (Link Access
Procedure for Modems) error-control protocol. V.42 also provides downward
compatibility with modems using MNP 2-4.
Data Compression.
CCITT V.42bis data compression, for modems incorporating V.42 LAP-M,
provides compression capabilities of up to 4:1. The T1600 is also
downwardly compatible with modems using MNP 5.
Modem Security.
The T1600 protects host computers against unauthorized access with
two types of dial-access security. Password Security requires the caller
to enter his password before gaining access. When Callback Security is
enabled, the caller gains access to the host only after the T1600 has
successfully completed a return call to the telephone number that is
indexed to the caller's password in the T1600's modem's database.
User-Friendly.
Equipped with 17 pre-set configurations which are permanently stored
in the modem, the T1600 is easily configured for specific applications.
Telebit's Extended Command Set.
The T1600 can be configured automatically using any data communications
software supporting the industry-standard AT command set. Or it can be
configured software supporting the Telebit Trailblazer Plus modem command
set.
Internal Support for File Transfer Protocols.
The T1600 provides integrated support for UNIX UUCP, XMODEM, YMODEM
and KERMIT file transfer protocols.
Remote Management and Diagnostics.
Remote access allows the central site administrator to configure, test and
diagnose T1600 modems in the field. To ensure reliable network performance,
the T1600 performs internal logic and memory tests, local and remote
digital loopback tests, and local analog loopback checks.
FEATURES OF THE T1600 MODEMS
FEATURES BENEFITS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Data rates from 300 to 9600 Allows applications to operate over
bps without data compression ordinary telephone lines at rapid speed.
CCITT V.32/V.22bis/V.22/V.21 Communicates with V.32 modems at 9600
and Bell 212A/103J modulation and 4800 bps and the installed base of
compatibility low-speed modems at 2400, 1200 and 300 bps
Full asynchronous/synchronous Supports communications in asynchronous
operation and synchronous environments using either
dial-up or 2-wire leased line operation
Compliant with CCITT V.42 Ensures error-free data transfer between
error-control protocol V.42 modems and existing MNP 2-4 protocol
modems
MNP 5 data compression Provides downward compatibility with the
installed base of MNP-5 modems.
Password and callback security Protects valuable data at the host by
limiting host access. Up to 10 passwords
and telephone numbers may be stored in the
answering modem.
Interface speeds Allows DTE interface speeds of up to
38,400 bps to ensure high throughput.
Command set Modem supports Telebit's Extended Command
set for compatibility with a wide variety
of applications.
Factory pre-stored Contains 17 commonly used configurations
configuration profiles which are easily selected by the operator
from the front panel
Internal support for UNIX UUCP Provides optimum data throughput in a
KERMIT, XMODEM and YMODEM broad range of of computer environments
Automatic Speed Selection Adjusts speed automatically to that of
the connecting modem.
Remote configuration and Permits configuration and testing of
management remote modems from a central site.
Eliminates expense of on-site technicians.
Storable configuration profiles Maintains two user-defined configurations
in non-volatile memory, eliminating
complicated set-up procedures for frequently
used setups. Each profile is selectable with
a front panel switch.
Storable telephone numbers Stores up to 10 phone numbers and
descriptors (up to 50 characters each) in
non-volatile memory for easy dialing
MI/MIC or A/A1 operation Provides proper signaling for use with
ACU (automatic calling units) and key
systems, making it easier to integrate
into sophisticated data communications
environments.
TALK/DATA switch Allows data and voice communications to
share the phone lines. Permits manual
dialing.
