     TELESOFT INTRODUCES OSF/MOTIF TRAINING COURSE
	     BEGINNING IN JANUARY 1991

	SAN DIEGO, January 22, 1991 -- TeleSoft(R) today announced
that beginning this month it will offer a training courses
across the United States in the X Window System TM and OSF/Motif TM.

The course, Building User Interfaces with OSF/Motif, is
designed for managers, software evaluators, interface designers and
programmers starting or in the process of developing applications with
the X Window System and OSF/Motif. Participants will develop an
understanding of how to design and develop graphical user interfaces
(GUIs) using today's standard environments.

The first day of the four-day seminar can be taken
separately. It provides attendees with a basic understanding of the
environments, resources, widget concepts and how to use window
managers. Topics covered in the full four-day course include the
client/server relationship; the architecture of an X client; X
environments; the X library; X toolkits; OSF/Motif; constructing user
interfaces; resources; widgets; gadgets; convenience functions; and
user interface design with the User Interface Language (UIL) and User
Interface Management Systems (UIMS). The course also includes an
instructor-led workshop incorporating hands-on experience designing a
GUI using a UIMS tool. Some of the material for the course has been
licensed from the Open Software Foundation (OSF). This enables the
course to include extensive in-depth material on OSF/Motif as conceived
by OSF, the creators of OSF/Motif.

"There is an enormous backlog of applications which need to be
developed as or converted to GUI applications, " said Ben
Goodwin, president and CEO of TeleSoft. "By providing training
courses in addition to tools and consultants, we can help
organizations determine the best course of action to significantly
improve their productivity while reducing their applications backlog."

"We are pleased that TeleSoft is offering this useful course for
OSF/Motif developers," said Craig Lamont, Business Area Manager
for OSF/Motif for the Open Software Foundation. "This helps
accelerate the already tremendous acceptance of X-based GUIs and
OSF/Motif."

Dataquest's study The X Window Market states "programming for
the X Window System is not trivial and usually involves a six- to
nine-month learning curve. It may be difficult for programmers
accustomed to mainframe environments to adjust to programming
object-oriented, GUI-oriented software. This difficulty indicates a
substantial opportunity for companies that can jump into the gap with
training and tools specifically designed to transition these
programmers. The X Window System is one of the fastest growth areas in
the desktop computing market."

Other studies have shown that the user interface comprises
about 60 percent of the code for typical applications. TeleSoft has
found that the effort to produce GUI related code can be reduced up
to 90 percent -- by knowing when and how to use various techniques and
tools. Seminar attendees will be trained to understand these
techniques so that they can realize these significant productivity
improvements.

This training course supplements TeleSoft's other X-based
products and services. These include the TeleUSE(R) UIMS and
training courses specifically on TeleUSE. TeleUSE provides
developers a comprehensive set of tools to more easily design,
prototype, evaluate, code and maintain GUIs.

The OSF/Motif public course locations and dates are January
22-25 in Boston; February 5- 8 in New York ; February 19-22 in
Washington, DC ; March 5-8 in San Francisco; and April 2-5
in San Diego . Additional sites and dates will be announced in the
future. The course is also available for delivery on-site to
organizations who would like to have courses taught in-house for
large groups at reduced per seat costs.

The full four-day seminar tuition is $1,500 per person, or $450
per person for the one-day Introduction to X, OSF/Motif and
UIMS session. Quantity discounts for multiple persons from the same
organization are available.

TeleSoft is the leading international provider of software
engineering products and services in support of such standards
as Ada and the X Window System. The company has major offices in
Stockholm, Sweden, and Brussels, Belgium, in addition to San Diego.
